The Islamic Society of Akron and Kent (ISAK) is excited to announce open teaching positions for our vibrant and growing Sunday School program for the upcoming academic year! 📚 Open Positions
We are currently seeking dedicated and qualified teachers for the following subjects and age groups (ages 4 to 17):
- Arabic Language (Reading, Writing, and Comprehension)
- Qur’an (Recitation, Memorization, and Tajweed)
- Qā‘idah Nūrānīyah (Foundational Qur’anic phonics)
- Islamic Studies (Seerah, Aqeedah, Fiqh, Adab, etc.)
Positions available for both male and female instructors. All classes are in-person and held on Sundays at ISAK.
📝 Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with ISAK’s Sunday School curriculum.
- Teach students in an engaging, respectful, and age-appropriate manner.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and encouragement.
- Maintain classroom discipline in line with Islamic values and school policies.
- Collaborate with administration and fellow teachers to coordinate activities and school events.
- Communicate effectively with parents when necessary.
- Attend teacher meetings, training sessions, and school-wide events.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and Islamic learning environment.
✅ Qualifications
- Strong background in the subject matter (Islamic Studies, Qur’an, Arabic, or Qā‘idah Nūrānīyah).
- Ability to work with children and teens in a classroom setting.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is required for Arabic and Qur’an-related positions.
- Prior teaching experience in Islamic schools, weekend schools, or related settings is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to Islamic values and professional conduct.
- Must be at least 18 years of age (exceptions may be made for youth assistants under adult supervision).
- Female teachers for female classes; male teachers for male classes (in accordance with age-appropriate grouping and community guidelines).
- Must complete a background check before employment.
⏰ Schedule
- Sundays during the academic year (September – May)
- Time commitment: Approximately 4–5 hours per Sunday, including prep and class time
- Additional time for periodic meetings and events as scheduled
