Assalamu Alaikum! As you know, our community has been blessed with countless refugee brothers and sisters, and many more are still arriving. We all know how terrifying it can be to come to a new foreign land and not have the proper financial, emotional, and psychological support needed to survive. We are blessed with so much privilege in this community, and it is our duty to share these blessings in service to our brothers and sisters who do not have what we do.

In effort to do this, the Refugee Committee has been working on a long-term vision to sustain the work needed for our new neighbors, and will be hosting the International Institute of Akron (foremost refugee assistance organization in the city) for a Refugee 101 Information Session on January 7, 2017 at 12:30pm to provide some essential information about the coming refugees and how best to serve them (please see flyer below)
. Alhamdulillah, so many of you have given your time and money to serve our new members, and we would like to now sustain these efforts strategically. This small session will be a preliminary effort to the Mentorship Training Workshop, which will be the cornerstone of a long-term vision, and will entail designated families from our community to serve as assigned mentors to refugee families.

We humbly request your attendance. Please attend so that you can learn about our new community members and how we can best serve their needs in the long-term. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Sincere gratitude and regards,

ISAK Refugee Committee
